HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

Spicy Wifey wants to wish you all a Happy Valentine's Day!

For any newbies Spicy Wifey is a forum for exchange of ideas and inspirational information to enhance your relationship repertoire no matter if you've been married forever, newlywed, engaged, dating, or simply single.

Even though the saying goes "You should make everyday Valentine's Day!" True...but let's be real you need to make THE Valentine's Day more special than just a normal Tuesday. Even if you don't spend a lot of money, take the time out to let your loved one know they are loved. Think about things that THEY would love or enjoy. Think about their favorite meal, colors, scents, and activities. Think about something they've been asking you to do with them and do it! Take this day as an opportunity to make your sweetie feel extra special.

Here are some suggestions that you can make happen today.
  • Cook or order in (if that's safer). If you normally cook add something special like champagne or a special sweet treat.
  • Stay in bed all day.
  • Run a candlelit bubble bath, then follow it with a massage.
  • Make a sexy play list or CD.
  • Give them the day off, take care of all the kids and household needs. ALL DAY and NIGHT.
  • Watch a romantic movie(s).
  • Take a scenic drive and get lost in each others conversation. (use the GPS only on the way back home).
Whatever you do, MAKE IT SPICY!

National Marriage Week USA Feb 7th-14th

National Marriage Week USA is every February 7th-14th every year. It is a collaborative effort to encourage many diverse groups to strengthen individual marriages, reduce the divorce rate, and build a stronger marriage culture, which in turn helps curtail poverty and benefits children. Together we can make more impact than working alone.

Marriage works, it makes people happier, live longer, and build more economic security. Children with married parents perform better in school.

Deep down, everyone wishes they could have a rewarding lifelong commitment with their spouse. But in the midst of challenges, we forget how marriage can benefit our personal lives. We are losing our determination and the skills to keep marriages healthy and strong.

Marriage breakdown is costly to our kids and to society at large. Divorce and unwed childbearing cost the U.S. taxpayers a whopping$112 billion annually.

In these economic challenging times, building stronger marriages helps build a stronger nation.

Girlfriend, Are You Ready for Some Football?

I loved this story written by Holly Robinson Peete, for Oprah.com so much I wanted to share it with my Spicy Wifey's.

Peete has been married to former NFL quarterback Rodney Peete for 14 years, but this Hollywood actress was a football fan long before she met her husband. Author of Get Your Own Damn Beer, I'm Watching the Game!: A Woman's Guide to Loving Pro Football, Holly shares tips on how you can love football too!

Every Monday night, as I snuggle with my husband, watching the nail-biting Monday Night Football games, I'm happy we were bonding. Seriously, I am so excited about football season—aren't you? No? Do I hear a groan? Did you just say you'd rather get shock therapy than sit down and watch a whole game? I imagine you think you're like most women in America, but the fact is that more than 40 percent of the Super Bowl viewing audience is women, and they are not all watching for the commercials! If you're really dreading football season's arrival, I want to help you turn your weekends around. I'm convinced that you understood the game of football, if you were hardwired to like it like most men, you'd enjoy it as much as any guy. You may even become hooked!

Ladies, what the guys won't tell you is that the National Football League (NFL) has more drama and gossip than any episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta ! They love, love, love gossiping about football, and there is a lot to gossip about. Players have reality shows, they go to jail and they date celebrities (no problem with that). During the last off-season, all sorts of syrupy NFL headlines captivated football fans: Quarterback Brett Favre's wishy-washy retirement plans; Michael Vick goes to the Philadelphia Eagles with his "tail between his legs" (pun totally intended); and dimpled quarterback Tony Romo breaks up with Jessica Simpson and is now with a new celebutante. The list goes on and on as the lines blur between the Sports page and the Entertainment page. There is always some backstory for any game, and it makes football more fun to watch.

Weight A Minute! Don't Forget to Snack!

Alright ladies we’ve done really well staying on track (or getting back on track) and making sure we start our day off with a healthy satisfying breakfast. Our inspiration and health expert, Dalana, wants to make sure you making it through the rest of the day especially between our meals and it’s my personal favorite SNACKS! Well making sure we have enough dietary fiber and SNACKS!

Why is Fiber so important in our health quest? "Fiber is the secret to losing weight without hunger," says Tanya Zuckerbrot, R.D., author of The F-Factor Diet. One U.S. Department of Agriculture study found that women who increased their daily fiber intake from 12 grams to 24 absorbed 90 fewer calories per day than those who ate the same amount of food but less fiber. Do nothing to your diet other than add more of the rough stuff and you will lose nine pounds in a year, effortlessly. Here's how this wonder substance works--and why you'd have to be nuts to let a day pass with less than your recommended 25 grams. So learning how to snack on the right foods can help you lose weight!
Great snacks to have throughout the day rich in fiber.

All-natural
1 medium avocado, 13.5 grams
1 cup of edamame, 8 grams
1 cup of raspberries, 8 grams
1 mini bag popcorn, 4 grams
